Me'kelle is an Integrated Nutrition Health Coach.


Welcome to my side of the internet where we encourage moms to prioritize their health and wellness so they can truly enjoy motherhood and thrive in their mom era. I wanted to introduce myself on here and give you a little more perspective on my story that led to me starting this wellness blog!

As an active athlete growing up, I was always passionate about health AND becoming a mother one day.  I graduated with my Exercise Science degree and finished a 500-hour Pilates Certification Program after I had my first baby.

My first postpartum season challenges were met with dismissal from my doctors about my frustrating symptoms. I didn’t have enough guidance on how to get back to my pre-baby health.

As a personal trainer who was proud of my fitness, I was discouraged by my mental state and stamina postpartum.  I lost the baby weight easily and seemed fine on the outside. But on the inside, I doubted whether the intruding thoughts, brewing resentment towards my partner, and loss of outside interests were normal. 

Perseverance and passion pushed me to dig into research, I read everything I could find about postpartum traditions globally and fine-tuned my health to gain energy and confidence. I went on to have 3 more children and with every postpartum season, I grew more confident in my ability to thrive in motherhood holistically.

Getting Certified as an Integrated Nutrition Health Coach taught me how to incorporate wellness into my motherhood in a holistic way.   It also showed me how much I have learned over the years in my own motherhood journey through trial and error that I can help other mothers without the pain I went through.

When I became pregnant with my third son, I knew I needed a career change.

Owning my pilates studio was taxing on my family and personal health. I longed to be home with my kids more and even homeschool them. 

I sold my studio and began pouring into my growing family more as a SAHM. I tried working again as an instructor part-time, but the pandemic took away much of the support I had as a working mom and highlighted how vital healthy habits were for my mental and physical health. 

I started to revert back to my first postpartum ways where I sacrificed my own needs on the altar of motherhood and settled in survival mode. It was then I realized how vital my holistic habits were for my ability to thrive as a mom. 

I started to believe motherhood would always be exhausting and I'd be stuck relying on coffee to get through the days...

But then everything changed when I received an ADHD Diagnosis…

All the advice I was given were habits I had before the pandemic…journal, meditate, exercise, and eat well.

I decided to take matters into my own hands, educate myself on holistic health, and find support aligned with my holistic goals. I discovered the power of holistic wellness and nourishing foods to restore my energy, reduce inflammation, and find emotional balance.

My “mom brain” started to disappear, the baby weight fell off and my energy soared. I couldn't stop sharing about how holistic health changed my health and motherhood. I broke free from survival mode and was once again thriving as a mom. I switched from teaching pilates to health coaching to provide women with a more holistic health approach that could be customized to life as a mother.

 

Now, as an Integrated Health Coach, I am dedicated to helping mothers heal as I was able to...

I am able to live out motherhood aligned with my dreams and values. I can homeschool my four kids, work as a health coach, and still have time to pursue my own hobbies. I love being active, camping, and traveling with my family. I finally believe I no longer need to sacrifice my own goals for my family and can say with confidence that I can keep my cup filled to care for my children out of an abundance of energy.

I believe motherhood is a beautiful and fleeting season that can be enjoyed with energy and thriving health for mothers. It takes intentional practices and healing modalities, but it's far simpler than most women realize with the right help.  An integrated approach doesn't add to a woman's load but rather sets her free from survival mode and allows her to find her own unique motherhood journey.

I believe that every mother deserves to feel vibrant, empowered, and nourished during this transformative phase of life.
